Oklahoma Junior Academic Bowl Association

WELCOME to the official website of the Oklahoma Junior Academic Bowl Association (OJABA), an organization that gives Oklahoma 5th through 9th graders the opportunity to participate in academic bowl playoff series of district, regional, and state tournaments.

WHAT IS ACADEMIC BOWL?  Academic bowl is a question-and-answer competition between two teams of four players each. A game consists of four quarters: two 20-question tossup quarters (1st and 3rd quarters) and two 10-question 60-second quarters (2nd and 4th). Games may be scrimmages or conference games (neither of which is controlled by OJABA), or they may be part of district, regional, and state tournaments (which are controlled by OJABA).

HOW DO I JOIN?  Complete the On-line Entry Form (see tab above), or print the Entry Form accessed on the "Documents" page and complete and mail it.  Invitations to enter or re-enter OJABA will be e-mailed or mailed in August to all current and past members, as well as other schools that have never joined.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?  Oklahoma public and private schools and home-school co-ops may enter teams of students in grades five through nine. Each public or private-school team must be entered and coached by an employee of the school.
